A single bullet found in a barrel on a United Airlines flight is causing panic at Newark Airport

A single bullet found in the overhead bin of a United Airlines Boeing 737 at Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) caused major security delays.
The incident happened on February 17 on a flight to Miami. The plane was declared a crime scene and was searched and removed by authorities before taking off after a delay of about three hours.
“On Tuesday, United Flight 1511 underwent a security sweep after a bullet was found in the overhead bin before the flight took off,” United Airlines told Fox News Digital in a statement.

“The security forces removed the plane, which then headed to Miami,” the company’s statement concluded.
United Flight 1511 was scheduled to take off from Newark at 2:07 p.m. local time, according to data shared with FlightAware.

It is still not known how the bullet got into the cockpit after multiple inspection procedures at Newark.

TSA regulations strictly prohibit firearms in carry-on luggage.
The ammunition must be unloaded, sealed in a hard-sided container and declared to the airline at the check-in counter as checked baggage, according to the agency.

Gun magazines and ammunition clips, loaded or empty, need to be placed in a secure box or placed inside a strong case containing the unloaded gun.

“TSA does not confiscate firearms found in carry-on bags. Screening officers notify law enforcement, who may be in possession of the firearm and decide what action to take,” according to the government’s website.

This is not the first time a passenger has tried to hide ammunition at Newark Airport.
