The father of Katie Abraham, a 20-year-old woman who died in a crash with an unlicensed driver, said Illinois leaders have failed victims’ families and that the state’s immigration policies have led to preventable deaths.
In his appearance on “Sunday Night America,” Joe Abraham accused Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker of standing behind illegal immigrants “regardless of the situation.”
“Politics created the environment that killed Katie, and that’s what the voters of Illinois need to know. And what they also need to know is that, God forbid, if something happens to them, their state – as they did me and Katie – will turn their backs on you as soon as possible, and they will erase you, and they will make you disappear because our story is not interrupted,” he said.

Abraham also called Pritzker’s immigration stance “incoherent,” pointing to the Democrat’s comments following the killing of Loyola University student Sheridan Gorman, allegedly by Venezuelan José Medina-Medina. Pritzker appeared to place the blame on the Trump administration, saying it was a “national failure” on the part of the president.
“This has been a terrible tragedy, and I know that the Gorman family has suffered greatly. … There has been a real failure. That failure, it has extended beyond the borders of Illinois. That is their failure nationally, the failure to get comprehensive information. the immigration revolutionthe president’s failure to follow through on his executive order is the worst,” Pritzker said.

Abraham asked why Pritzker is now accusing President Donald Trump of not enforcing enough immigration laws after the governor compared ICE agents to Nazis.
“Are you trying to say that you want… ‘jackbooted criminals,’ as he calls them, to go back to their hometown because they didn’t do the job the first time? It’s very inconsistent,” Abraham said.
“He is someone who will never stand behind his principles. He is delusional, he is deceitful, and he will never tell the truth to the voters of Illinois. He will not.”

“Dude, he shouldn’t have been here, and that’s what matters,” Abraham said.
“So, when you talk, ‘you will get justice’ – there is no such thing, and that’s what they don’t understand. This is avoidable.”
He rejected the narrative that his daughter was “in the wrong place at the wrong time,” insisting that Katie’s death cannot be separated from politics.

“My boyfriend who killed Katie didn’t get the full measure of the law. He got time in jail, he’ll see the light of day again. My daughter is in the grave. And I feel like I’m in the grave too. How sad that is.“
