While joining ‘Sinners’ director Ryan Coogler on stage at the 2026 NAACP Image Awards on Feb. 28, Delroy paused to show great support. Michael B., also an attendee of the annual event, seems to have stepped inside, giving a simple answer that fans can’t stop talking about.

Delroy Lindo Breaks His Silence on BAFTA Awards Controversy

While on stage at the NAACP Image Awards, Delroy Lindo thanked everyone for their support after John Davidson booed him and Michael B. Jordan at the BAFTA Awards in February. Lindo was applauded during the ceremony, telling the crowd that it means a lot to see so many people showing love.

“Before we get started, I’d like to officially say, thank you—I appreciate—we appreciate all the support and love you’ve shown us after what happened last weekend,” Delroy said during the NAACP Awards.

From there, Delroy highlighted a sense of community at the NAACP Image Awards.

“It means a lot to us. It’s an honor to be here among our people tonight.” Lindo continued, “Among the many people who have shown us incredible support.

Michael B. Jordan had a lot to celebrate at the NAACP Image Awards, taking home Entertainer of the Year and Outstanding Actor in a Motion Picture. While accepting the Best Actor Award, Michael dedicated it to the late Chadwick Boseman and, while thanking his team and family, made sure to mention how much he “loved being Black.” The audience erupted in excitement, and fans shared the moment all over social media.

John Davidson Breaks Silence & Explains Tics After Backlash From BAFTA Incident

Delroy Lindo and Michael B. Jordan’s comments come after John Davidson spoke about the incident at the BAFTA Awards. Davidson thanked BAFTA for giving the audience a heads up about her Tourette’s and explained that her tics are voluntary. He also thanked the audience for welcoming him to the event. Davidson added that he feels “very happy” for those who think his tics were intentional. Tourette’s lawyer said he left the BAFTAs early because his tricks were causing “distress.”

“I was here to celebrate the film of my life, I Swear, which more than any film or TV documentary, explains the origin, nature, characteristics and manifestations of Tourette Syndrome,” John Davidson is reported to have said in a statement. He went on to say, “I have spent my life trying to support and empower the Tourette’s community and teach compassion, kindness, and understanding to others, and I will continue to do so.”

Variety reported that Davidson also shouted other offensive things during the show, such as “shut the if*** up” and “f*** you” during the announcement of the family and children’s movie win. The BAFTA awards also sparked controversy by leaving Davidson’s racial slurs at Delroy and Michael B. on the radio, although they appeared to cut out some “Free Palestine” chants at the ceremony.
