Judge Rules Out Rehab After New Orleans Arrest

A New Orleans judge ordered the actor Shia LaBeouf to return to drug and alcohol rehabilitation and post a $100,000 bond on Thursday. This comes after the movie star was charged with two counts of assault at a bar during Mardi Gras.

LaBeouf appeared in court wearing a fleece jacket and jeans tucked into cowboy boots.
Orleans Criminal Court Judge Simone Levine called him on charges of using homophobic slurs during the assault near the French Quarter. A police report said LaBeouf pulled out one victim’s nose. Shia LaBeouf now has to submit to weekly drug tests, including one in court. He agreed and his lawyer said the test showed no illegal substances in his system. Judge Levine said the episode was troubling “the safety of this great community, especially if it is related to a neglected community that has gone through so much crime,” r.to the LGBTQ+ community.

“This defendant does not take his alcoholism seriously,” Levine said. “This court does not believe that it understands the level of seriousness when it comes to these allegations.”

Jude Levine ordered LaBeouf to stay away from the victims and the bar where the fight took place.

A judge denied Shia LaBeouf’s request to travel to Rome in March for “religious matters, including his father’s baptism.” Levine said during the trial that he was concerned about whether LaBeouf “could handle his alcohol.”

“Frankly,” LaBeouf’s attorney Sarah Chervinsky told the judge, “getting drunk on Mardi Gras is not a crime.”

Jeffrey Damnit She previously told the Associated Press that LaBeouf punched her repeatedly and used homophobic slurs while threatening her life. Damnit said he believes LaBeouf was targeting him because he was wearing makeup and eyeliner.

“This guy wants me to die because I put on makeup,” said Damnit. “It’s wrong.”

A judge released Shia LaBeouf without bond a few hours after he was arrested on February 17. He said on Thursday that he had not received a police report that said the actor allegedly used a homophobic slur when he returned to a bar. He also punched people with a closed fist after being asked to leave. Videos of these altercations already show LaBeouf punching multiple people.
After LaBeouf was released from custody, the actor was seen in the French Quarter dancing in the streets for Mardi Gras.

What Does the Actor Say About It?

LaBeouf posted bond and declined to comment to reporters. He has not formally filed his charges.

“No, I won’t say anything,” he said in the courtroom corridor when he returned from a drug and alcohol test before the judge’s order. “God bless you, leave me alone.”
