Princess Kate Middleton she’s a woman with a plan – at least according to the royal author Russell Myers.
“He’s always been criticized for how long it takes him to get used to public speaking or how long it takes him to form real ideas that he wants to advance in his royal role, but I think he’s a real strategist,” Myers said. Us Weekly especially while promoting his upcoming book, William and Catherine: A New Age of Monarchy: The Inside Story.
Myers said Kate, 44, is “thinking about the future,” too Prince William “You trust him too much.”
The writer said there was “a really interesting potential” between William, 43, and Kate as they continued to juggle their personal and professional lives.
“He’s self-reliant, professionally and emotionally,” explained Myers.
While writing this book, Myers told Us that her “big surprises” came from how involved Kate was in the day-to-day activities of the royal family.
“When you think of Catherine, you think of this glamorous woman who represents royalty well,” he said. Myers explained that “when you talk to people who have known her for years,” there is a sense that Kate “works on a large scale.”
Details of how William and Kate are preparing to take over the throne have been reported for years. Myers said Us that after “talking to people very, very close” to William and Kate, it’s clear they have a “completely different view of the monarchy” going forward.
“It must be answered. We must talk to the new generation, not only at home but abroad,” he said. “It needs to be included in the issues that matter to young people – whether that’s climate change or homelessness or trying to influence the transition of young children – which is very important to what Catherine is trying to do.”
They also need to “create a program that works for people,” Myers added.
“What they’re trying to do is try to fix their family life at home and work on a public profile,” the author said. “That’s very different from the way the monarchy was built in previous generations.”
William and Kate are using this change as an example for their three children – Prince George12, Princess Charlotte10, again Prince Louis7 – so.
“They definitely wanted to create a different model for the future,” Myers said, acknowledging how the couple went through “a very painful time” following both. King Charles III and Kate’s cancer diagnosis.
Charles announced that he has cancer in February 2024, and his treatment is still ongoing. Kate, on the other hand, went public with her diagnosis in March 2024. She announced in January 2025 that she was officially in remission.
“He’s still a young man with a little family, and I think he’s going to really try to hold on to every moment he has with his father,” Myers said of William, explaining that the Prince of Wales is still trying to “think about the future ahead of him that doesn’t involve carrying the burden of the crown right now.”
