Lady Victoria Hervey, ex-girlfriend of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor (formerly Prince Andrew) appears to have likened the attention surrounding his arrest to a “blood sport.”
Writing on his X account on Friday, February 20, Hervey, 49, wrote, “There is a food frenzy going on that can be compared to a blood sport like fox hunting.”
Hervey did not mention Andrew directly in the post, but he has been a staunch supporter of the royal in the past as controversy swirled over his relationship with the convicted rapist. Jeffrey Epstein.
Andrew was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office on Thursday, February 19, which was his 66th birthday.
The UK’s Thames Valley Police said in a statement that they “arrested a 60-year-old man from Norfolk on suspicion of misconduct in public office.” It added that searches were being carried out in Berkshire and Norfolk.
Assistant Chief Constable Oliver Wright he later said in a statement, “After a thorough investigation, we have now opened an investigation into these allegations of misconduct in public office.”
“It is important that we protect the integrity and purpose of our investigation as we work with our partners to investigate this alleged crime,” he continued. “We understand the importance of the public interest in this case, and we will provide updates in due course.”

“I have read with deep concern the news surrounding Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and the allegations of misconduct in public office. What follows now is a full, fair and appropriate process in which this matter is investigated properly and by the appropriate authorities. In this, as I have said before, they have our full and wholehearted support and cooperation,” said Charles, 77, in a statement from Buckingham Palace. “I am not saying clearly: the law must take its place.”

Hervey has publicly defended Andrew since the king’s encounter with Epstein resurfaced in 2019. Following Andrew’s popularity BBC Newsnight interview in November 2019, Hervey surprisingly suggested that the shocking TV appearance proved his innocence to him.

Andrew was sued by Epstein’s accuser Virginia Giuffre about sexual harassment allegations in 2021 and settled the case for private money the following year. Hervey has often spoken out in defense of Andrew, who has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing. Giuffre died by suicide in April 2025.
In a Good Morning Britain in an interview in 2019, Hervey said she had a short-term romance with Andrew after her breakup Sarah Ferguson. (Andrew and Ferguson married in 1986 and adopted two children, Princess Beatrice, 37, too Princess Eugenie35, before the divorce in 1996.)
