The United Kingdom’s Thames Valley Police confirmed that they “arrested a 60-year-old man from Norfolk on suspicion of misconduct in public office.” Although they did not disclose the identity of the suspect, due to the national guidelines, many outlets confirmed that Andrew was arrested.

“I have read with great concern the news of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and the allegations of misconduct in public office,” said a statement obtained by Us Weekly on Thursday. “What follows now is a complete, fair and proper process in which this matter is investigated properly and by the appropriate authorities. Why Was Prince Andrew Arrested?

Andrew was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office.

“We can confirm that we have received this report and are examining the information in accordance with our established procedures,” a police spokesman told the BBC in early February.

The claims against Andrew come from emails released by the United States Department of Justice as part of the Epstein files.

Misconduct in public office is defined as “the willful and serious abuse or neglect of the powers or duties of a public office held,” according to the Crown Prosecution Service website.
