“I came out with a bold and true statement against Marciano [recently] because at that time it was like, ‘You are lying about me. You were actually a hunter.’ So I will not be silent – and I stand by that statement,” he said alone Us Weekly May 2025. “There’s a lot going on behind the scenes that will come to light. I’m sure it’s now an official matter. There’s not much I can say about it right now because I want to protect the fact that it’s a serious situation. But I stand behind those statements.”
Later that year, Demi wanted during a Secret Lives of Mormon Wives‘ Season 3 to admit that any meeting between him and Brunette was “unwanted.”
“Everyone is going to deal with these types of situations differently. You don’t deserve unwanted touching,” Demi said in the November 2025 episode. “No matter what it looks like, no matter what your relationship was before or after, unwanted touching is unwanted touching.”
After the episode, Brunette denied Demi’s accusations.
“It is unfortunate to see everything that is happening now, because everything that has happened [on Vanderpump Villa] it was consensual,” Brunette said on the November 2025 episode of the “Juicy Scoop” podcast. “I will say unequivocally that her accusations against me are 100 percent false.”
The following month, Brunette sued Demi for defamation. According to documents obtained by Us at the time, Brunette alleged that Demi falsely described her as a “rapist.”
“The truth is straight. Engemann and Marciano met while filming in Italy. They flirted. They talked in private. They kissed. They broke up,” Marciano’s legal team said in the documents. “After filming, Engemann stayed in touch with Marciano for months via phone calls, FaceTime, texts, invitations, and even sharing a place. That behavior confirms an ongoing relationship, not a person responding to sexual harassment.”
Brunette said that Demi’s allegations caused “huge” damage to her reputation.
“They accused Marciano of a sex crime he did not commit.” They were widely published, reprinted over and over again, and edited to harden into the minds of viewers,” the doctors read. “The damage was immediate and severe, including loss of career opportunities, harassment by strangers, and permanent damage to Marciano’s reputation.”
After filing the lawsuit, Brunette took to social media to open up about how challenging life has been for her over the past year.
“This past year has been one of the hardest of my life – honestly maybe the hardest,” he said in an Instagram video from December 2025. “I know if you’ve seen me, on TV or online, you know that I like to joke around and have fun and always keep my energy high. But behind the scenes, I’ve been going through a lot mentally – it’s really fun.”
