Chris Brown Throws Shade at Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl 60 Halftime Show

Chris Brown he made his feelings about it clear Bad rabbitSuper Bowl 60 halftime show on Sunday, February 8.

“I THINK IT’S SAFE TO SAY.. THEY NEED ME!! 😏,” Brown, 36, wrote on his Instagram Story as he wrapped up Bad Bunny’s performance.

The Puerto Rican rapper’s show was a powerful celebration of his Puerto Rican roots, featuring cameos from Lady Gaga, Ricky Martin, Pedro Pascal, Jessica Alba, Carol G and more.

The selection of Bad Bunny as the Super Bowl halftime performer drew widespread reaction after it was announced in September 2025.

One of the first to criticize the choice was a former NASCAR driver Danica Patrickwho complained about Bad Bunny acting in Spanish.

“Wow it’s fun,” Patrick, 42, wrote about X. “No English songs should be allowed on one of America’s top televised events of the year … not just sports.”

Patrick doubled down on his criticism days later when he appeared Steve Bannon‘s “War Room” podcast.

“The Super Bowl is the most watched program we have on television all year,” said Patrick. “It’s estimated that 127 million people will watch it. It’s valuable for television and sports, especially. It’s where we come together as a country. We enjoy it, we have events, we like to watch halftime. We know that we like to sing along to halftime and it’s usually one of the most dynamic in many different age groups.”

He went on to say, “I don’t have a problem with someone playing during halftime who isn’t from the United States, even though Bad Bunny is a citizen because he was born in Puerto Rico,” he continued. “He wasn’t born in America. I don’t care where he was born. What I care about is that I can sing along with the music. His music doesn’t say anything in English. I don’t think it will be that good. I don’t think it will be unity. What I would hate to see is that he will divide us again, in another way.”

Pro football Hall of Famer Eric Dickerson rejected the selection of Bad Bunny, although he admitted that he did not know the rapper.

“I don’t even know who this guy is. I’ve never heard of him,” Dickerson, 65, told TMZ in October 2025. “I’m not that big on music. What’s his name? What’s the Bad Bunny song? I don’t know any of them.” [his] songs.”

Dickerson added, “Keep his ass in Puerto Rico.”

Despite the major backlash, Bad Bunny had many A-list supporters in his corner, including Jennifer Lopez.

“I think he’s going to upset everybody,” Lopez, 56, said during an appearance in October. Today the show. “It’s an introduction to other people.”

When asked about the backlash, Lopez added, “I don’t understand that. He’s one of the best artists in the world right now, maybe the best.”
