Florida church pastor arrested on voyeurism charges after laptop found

A Fruitland Park, Florida, church “supervisor” has been arrested on video voyeurism charges after footage from the church’s bathroom and other locations was found on the suspect’s work laptop, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities arrested Charles Barton Lucas, 59, on Friday after the IT director at RoMac Building Supply contacted the Leesburg Police Department after finding a Google Drive folder filled with indecent images of teenage girls and older women. A statement issued by RoMac confirmed that Lucas was no longer employed by the company following the incident.
“This matter was discovered by our team during normal company procedures and was immediately reported to law enforcement. We have cooperated fully with the authorities since the beginning and will continue to do so. Mr. Lucas is no longer employed by RoMac,” the statement read in part.
A spokesman for the Lake County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement that investigators have received additional videos that appear to show the girls changing in the church bathroom. Further investigation revealed that the videos came from a hidden camera installed in one of the church’s changing rooms and bathrooms.

The cameras were gone when the Lake County Sheriff’s Office went back to check the bathroom.
Lucas was arrested Friday evening and taken to the Lake County Jail, but was released on a $25,000 bond Saturday afternoon, according to the sheriff’s office.

An arrest affidavit from the sheriff’s office said Lucas is listed as a “Supervisor” at Fruitland Park’s Heritage Community Church. The church issued a statement saying “they are praying.” [Lucas] and his family” during the investigation, but later issued a follow-up statement expressing their concern for those affected.
“Our greatest concern is for any individuals or families who may have been affected by these allegations. We recognize the seriousness of situations like this and the deep hurt, confusion, and pain they can cause,” the church said in a statement sent to FOX35 Orlando.

“Heritage Community Church does not condone conduct that is harmful to others or inconsistent with our biblical principles. We are cooperating fully with law enforcement and any other appropriate authorities and will continue to do so throughout this process. As we await more information, Heritage Community Church is committed to being open, honest, and transparent with our church family regarding the information we are able to share,” the statement continued.
The investigation is ongoing and Fox News Digital has reached out to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office for further comment.
