Joe Rogan blasted critics of the UFC White House event during Wednesday’s episode of his podcast, defending the event as an unprecedented and patriotic event.
President Donald Trump celebrated his 80th birthday before celebrating America’s 250th birthday with a celebration on the South Lawn, where 14 fighters from around the world competed inside a wire-mesh cage during the UFC Freedom 250 spectacle.
An estimated 4,300 people were present, including 1,200 active members, who greeted the president with great joy as “Happy Birthday” was occasionally shouted from the crowd. This event worth 60 million started with the performance of the Marine Band, sung by the country star Zac Brown, and ended with a flyover by the Navy’s Blue Angels and the Air Force Thunderbirds.
Rogan spoke to writer Chase Hughes on his podcast Wednesday, recalling the incredible fights he witnessed last weekend, where he said that in addition to the 4,300 official attendees, there were 85,000 more watching on big screens outside the venue.

“It was crazy. The magnitude of it was crazy,” Rogan commented. He said that although he is hyperbolic by nature, “That was the worst experience I’ve ever had in my 20 or so years of calling fight games. Nothing close. Not even close. It was the greatest fight night of all time. And it was the only night in the history of sports where every single fight ended in a knockout.”
He further added that he actually had to get other people to show up first, noting, “I talked a bunch of people into going who didn’t want to go. Like Shane Gillis was thinking about not going. I’m like, ‘Bro, you gotta go. It’s going to be epic. It’s going to be a once-in-a-lifetime thing. It’s never happened once in a lifetime. It’s probably never happened once in a lifetime. It’s never going to happen again.’
“Probably not,” Hughes agreed.
“No,” Rogan said. “But that’s something you have to see and experience.”

The host went on to lament that “a lot of people are trying to make it a collective thing. Like they’re mad at people for being there. Like, ‘Oh, you support Trump.’ Like, it’s a f—ing war in the White House. It doesn’t mean you condone foreign policy. Like, shut the if— up. I’m just asking. Please stop.”
“And again, it’s this thing, the ego thing where people are – they want it so bad – and on both sides for sure,” Rogan continued. “You know, the good guys are celebrating this as a victory for manhood and patriotism and all these different things. Like, okay, stay put. Everybody’s settled. You all have to be together.”
