Here are some ridiculous excuses Knicks fans are using to play hooky for NYC’s victory parade

Big Apple Knicks fans are getting creative, cooking up crazy plans to get the job done Thursday for a taping show of NBA champions down the Canyon of Heroes.

Some will call in sick, some won’t show up for work and hope for the best, and some will hope their bosses understand – but they don’t miss out on their hometown’s big hero celebrations.

“I’ll start coughing on Wednesday, get a cold the next,” said TV studio technician Kenny Rosa on Monday. “And as soon as I close, I scream the next day, I scream sick.”

“It’s mental health day,” said Yale Club employee Sam Suarez. “It’s a mental health day, and you have sick days, and you just call and say, ‘Hey, listen, I have to go.’ And that’s all.

“You know, sometimes you don’t need to explain because they know that it’s a lie.”

New Jersey native Justin said he came into town for the big show after leaving his job in Seattle. “I am not well and I will come back when I am better,” he told his superiors.

Mayor Zohran Mamdani said the Knicks’ victory parade could be the biggest in the city’s history, and it’s not easy for diehard fans who just saw the home team win its first NBA title in 53 years.

A Game 5 victory over the hated San Antonio Spurs on Saturday night launched the biggest celebration in the city that hasn’t yet melted — and it will conclude with Thursday’s showdown.

For patient fans, you may have to risk your career.

“I’m yelling, respectfully,” one Harlem fan told The Post.

Asked what he would tell his boss, he said: “My dog got sick.”

One Knicks fan said he plans to use a tactic that worked in the past, he said he will “deliberately make me fall in front of my managers,” and said “injury” will keep him home.

Long Island sanitation worker David Polonia had another plan in mind.

“I told him I went to the doctor,” he said. “He didn’t seem too happy about that, but he accepted it.”

However, many fans have said that they will be honest about everything and hope to go ahead.

“Everybody knows, I think my employer is showing,” said lifelong fan David Dweck. “It is what it is. We live in New York and we love the Knicks… We say we’re out of a job and that’s it.”

“I’m coming to the show,” Dweck added. “I love my Knicks and I’ll deal with the consequences soon.”
