TCU’s official social media account offers a scathing response to Texas Tech-Brendan Sorsby’s statement

The Texas Tech Red Raiders’ heel turn, from beloved outsiders looking to shake up the program to undisputed villains of college football, has been equal parts shocking and exciting.

The genesis of this villain arc is, of course, the gambling saga of Brendan Sorsby that continues to unfold before our eyes.

The university, its athletic department and anyone associated with it have not done anything good for the Red Raiders and their quarterback, with people like head coach Joey Maguire and billionaire booster Cody Campbell sounding off on the issue and only angering the fans.

Realizing this is the case, the Texas Tech athletic department released a 21-minute video statement Thursday evening to try to douse the flames of the Sorsby fallout, hoping to clear up any misconceptions about the ongoing case.

BRENDAN SORSBY’S LAWSUIT WITH THE NCAA COULD SET A DANGEROUS PRECEDENCE FOR COLLEGE SPORTS GOING AHEAD.

You can watch the video yourself and draw your own conclusions, but it’s safe to say that fans all over social media are dismissing this statement and taking every opportunity to talk about the Red Raider while they’re at it.

The comments section is filled with college football fans from across the country calling the university’s athletic department a bunch of clowns and hypocrites, but one Big 12 rival, the TCU Horned Frogs, released its own statement in response to Tech’s video.

Absolute brutality.

THE TEXAS LONGHORNS HAVE NOTHING TO GAIN BY RESPONDING TO THE TEXAS TECH CHALLENGE, IF YOU CHOOSE TO ACCEPT THE TERMS.

They didn’t quote the original post or tag Texas Tech in their response, but given the timing of their post, everyone and their mother knew exactly what TCU was referring to.

We recommend anyone who uses their own social media account, because I’m sure the Frog Horned fans were wondering exactly what the admin is saying here.

Even fans of rival programs in the state and in the conference have been giving TCU their tools to dig up the Big 12’s giants.

I have to say, I love this. Everything.

Texas Tech morphing from plucky underdog to college football contender in less than a season is exactly what the sport needs.

College football was in desperate need of a villain after the rivalry between the SEC and the Big Ten was out of date.
