Gotham FC will renovate the former Red Bulls venue

Gotham FC is getting new digs.
The reigning NWSL champions are building a state-of-the-art training facility in Whippany, NJ, transforming the former Red Bull New York training facility into a new Gotham base. The 27,000-square-foot campus will include three grass fields – one of which will be heated – as well as a full-size indoor arena, a 3,000-square-foot gymnasium, a hydrotherapy room, a dedicated player recovery room and lounge, and a restaurant.
“We created Gotham FC with the desire to be one of the most prominent clubs in women’s soccer and a global brand in the sport,” said Carolyn Tisch Blodgett, governor of Gotham FC, in a statement. “Creating our first training facility is a major milestone in that journey because it gives our players and staff something that a great team needs: a real home. This investment reflects our belief that world-class athletes deserve a world-class facility. We are creating a space designed to work, recover, develop and connect, while creating a foundation that will support future generations of players.”
“As the women’s game continues to grow globally, we want Gotham FC to help set the bar for what’s possible and build something that’s sustainable.”
The new facility will also have a place for the families of the players, as well as the families of the team’s staff.
Renovations are expected to be completed by the summer of 2027 and will begin later this summer.
The center’s design was developed in collaboration with SHOP Architects, the same firm that designed the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
The Athletic reported that the project will cost Gotham FC $35 million and is privately funded, and includes a 15-year lease that will begin on September 1.

“We create an environment that allows our athletes to perform well, recover and develop at their highest level every day,” Yael Averbuch West, Gotham’s president of football operations, said in a statement. “This facility represents a major step in aligning our infrastructure with our sporting ambitions and ensuring we continue to set high standards.”
Gotham’s announcement on Wednesday came amid talks for Gotham to move to the soon-to-open Etihad Park, which is under construction in Queens, near Citi Field.
Reports emerged last month that the club is in advanced talks to move to the new home of New York City FC as soon as 2028 and several sources told The Post that nothing has been finalized.
The site of Gotham’s new building was the longtime home of the Red Bulls, who opened a new training facility in Morristown, NJ, in April and are being used as Brazil’s World Cup team camp.
