CHIN Radio/TV Celebrates 60 Years of Multicultural Broadcasting

TORONTO – CHIN Radio/TV is celebrating its 60th anniversary, celebrating six decades of pioneering multiculturalism and community outreach across Canada.

On June 6, 1966, CHIN Radio began broadcasting, ushering in a new era of multicultural broadcasting in Ontario and helping shape Canada’s identity as a diverse and inclusive nation. From its earliest days, CHIN has been an important voice for newcomers, providing a reliable media outlet for immigrants who come to Toronto from around the world in search of opportunity and a better future for their families.

For 60 years, CHIN has served as a cultural bridge, connecting generations of Canadians through language, music, stories, and shared stories. Today, CHIN Radio broadcasts on five channels throughout Toronto and Ottawa, delivering programming in over 50 languages ​​each week and producing 12 hours of multilingual television programming each week, broadcast on Rogers Omni Television and Citytv.–a lasting testament to its commitment to inclusion and advocacy.

CHIN is proud to be part of the Taste of Little Italy Festival, which runs June 12–14 on College Street between Bathurst and Shaw. Together, Little Italy BIA and CHIN Radio will offer festival fans talented artists on the main stage, highlighting the rich cultural diversity that makes this event so special.

The CHIN Picnic will showcase artists from the Chinese, Italian, Brazilian, and Latino communities in an amazing multicultural celebration.

A special thanksgiving event will take place

on the main stage at College and Crawford. The event will feature guest speakers honoring CHIN Radio’s six decades of service, cultural programming, and contributions to multicultural communities across Canada. The celebration will include a cake cutting ceremony and the release of 60 colorful balloons.
