Ted McGinley says he has a bunch of one-cent leftover checks from his television career

Ted McGinley is the latest celebrity to reveal the shocking amount he still receives in his residual checks.
In a new interview with Page Six, the “Married… With Children” star — who also found fame on “Happy Days” and “The Love Boat” throughout the 1970s, ’80s, and ’90s — said she’s holding onto a “whole stack” of checks each worth the sum of one dollar.
“I kept getting scraps,” said McGinley, who admitted the checks got smaller and smaller as the years went by.
Although McGinley doesn’t bother writing small checks, he can’t bring himself to throw them away.

The actor said he might have $2 checks.
McGinley isn’t the only celebrity to open up about the shocking fossils he’s found over the years.

At the time of appearing on “McBride Rewind” podcastJodie Sweetin – who rose to fame for her role as Stephanie Tanner on “Full House” during the show’s eight-season run from 1987 to 1995, and also starred in the spinoff “Fuller House” from 2016 to 2020 – shared the shocking amount she received on her latest paycheck.

Sweetin, at the time, said he “got a penny check the other day.”
“There is no more exchange because it is complete in broadcasting,” he continued. “Who gets paid for that? Nobody gets paid for that,” he said.

“Sure, in my 20s, there would be money, but not reliable,” he said. “You don’t know how much money it’s going to make or how many times they’re going to run the show. So, sometimes you’re like, ‘Oh, that’s cool. That was fun.’ Then sometimes you’re like, ‘Okay, okay, there’s a nice dinner.’

“You’re just like you don’t know. So, it’s not something you can count on,” added Sweetin. “I always say, people think I live a lavish life. I’m like, ‘Honey, I drive my 2023 Hyundai Sonata that I love. I rent out my house. I have maxed out credit cards.’ I live a normal life,” he explained. “And yes, there are times when you’re like, ‘This is going well,’ and there are times when you’re like, ‘I need a day job.’

“That’s the world view — it’s always been like this: It’s like, you know, ‘Oh, you did a commercial for Folgers Coffee. You have to live in a mansion in Hollywood. I saw you on TV, you’re rich,'” Bell said during an appearance on television. “The Random Podcast.”
“That’s far from a crime,” Bell continued. “And in particular — which worries a lot of us at Nickelodeon — we don’t get residuals from our shows.”
Bell noted that many networks pay actors residuals after their first performance, but said Nickelodeon only offers one-time payments to actors.
