Alleged Tom Hardy MobLand Behavior, Explained

If you haven’t seen it, MobLandco-directed by Guy Ritchie, Tom stars as Harry Da Souza, a street-smart fixer caught in the middle of a vicious rivalry between two crime families. It also stars A-listers, Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren.
MobLand premiered in March 2025, and the second season is expected to be released later this year. But, despite the show’s success on the air, its future may be in jeopardy due to alleged rifts between Tom and the producers.
In context, the production of the 2nd season in March, and on May 22, Variety reported that Tom “was not asked to return” for the third season that was expected following the dispute between him and the executive producer Jez Butterworth, and the people of 101 Studios, which produces the show. There was no direct confirmation from Tom’s camp, or from anyone on the show’s side. But now, a new story from The Hollywood Reporter has shed more light on this reportedly dire situation.
Echoing rumors that Tom had been feuding with producers, THR quoted a source who said he disrupted filming by refusing to “come out of his trailer for hours at a time.” “He waited for the actors, [which is] a power play,” said the insider. “Keeping Pierce Brosnan, Helen Mirren, and others waiting is career suicide, I’d bet.” As for what might have kept him in his trailer, Puck News reported rumors that Tom is trying to make script changes and provide notes to Butterworth and the show’s creator, Ronan Bennett.
Interestingly, THR disputed earlier reports that Tom had been officially fired, but said that his allegedly scheming behavior “has caused producers to rethink” his future on the show, which is apparently yet to be greenlit for a third season.
Unfortunately, this wouldn’t be the first time Tom has been accused of misbehaving on set. He famously quarreled with Charlize Theron when they played together Mad Max: Fury RoadCharlize previously said that the tension between them made her feel unsafe.
It has been suggested that the feud between the actors was exacerbated by Tom’s repeated delays on set. While discussing the well-documented argument with the Telegraph in 2024, Max is crazy director and co-producer George Miller said that Tom “had to be taken out of his carriage” at times.
Describing them as “two very different actors,” Miller said: “Tom has the damage to him but also the brilliance to go with it… and Charlize was incredibly disciplined – a dancer by training, who spoke with precision in the way she performed – and was always the first on the set. I’m very optimistic, so I saw their behavior as mirroring their actors to work together to work together. There is no excuse for it, and I think there is a tendency in this business to use performance as an excuse for other distractions which is avoidable.”
Prior to this, Sir Patrick Stewart wrote in his 2023 memoir that he found Tom “strange” and “lonely” when they worked together. Star Trek: Nemesis in 2002. Tom wrote: “I never said, ‘Goodbye,’ he never said, ‘Goodbye,’ and he spent unnecessary hours in his car with his girlfriend.”
