Shut up ICE and the Dodgers

It’s amazing how annoying the world is. Nothing draws a general reaction.

The Dodgers won the World Series last season, so they are invited to the White House to be honored by President Trump.

Which means it’s time to put up with all the horrifying nonsense of activist groups and woke sports reporters insisting that, because of Trump’s ICE policies, the Dodgers shouldn’t go to Washington DC to accept the honor.

When will these people shut up?

When will they leave?

Why is every little joy in life ruined by loud, attention-seeking lunatics pushing one stupid issue or another?

I like baseball.

I’ve loved you since I was 7 years old, growing up in New Jersey. I became obsessed with the Mets, hated the Yankees and spent most of my childhood evenings watching baseball games.

Broadcasters helped me and encouraged me to go into broadcasting.

I probably watched 1,000 games, no exaggeration.

The highlight every year was my dad and god taking my brother and I to a Mets game on our birthdays.

I never heard a single word about politics during the broadcast.

Political disputes were not contained within the sports pages.

No common person ever associated sports with politics at that time. Life was good.

When I was in high school, I got a job in the sports department of a local suburban newspaper.

It had a great staff: 16 writers and editors who covered everything from high school sports to New York professional teams.

Over five years, I spent hundreds of nights with other writers and editors.

I’ve tried hard to remember, but I can’t think of a single political discussion or issue that was ever discussed.

Everyone was talking about sports or music or women or where they were going out drinking later.

No one was awakened.

The conversation was wild and funny. Working in the newspaper’s sports department was a lot of fun.

I don’t know why sportswriters fall prey to moralism, obsessing over everything that’s disgusting in society.

When did they become humorless, predictable and relentlessly annoying?

Now they are unreadable and even the sports commentators who indulge in this don’t listen. At one point I quit ESPN and never went back.

Maybe they changed because their sports articles never generated enough clicks, but their political speeches are attracting attention on the Internet.

Members of activist groups are paid for their disruption and their real goal is to destroy everything that was good about this country and take the fun out of anything that makes us happy.

Late night comedy, not spoiled. Award shows, ruined. I couldn’t watch the NFL for a while because of all the social justice messages — finally, even less.

Yes, I know, “you raise awareness.” Awareness has been raised; Be quiet.

It was the most gripping, shocking, exhausting Game 7 in history.

Dozens of strangers were screaming and cheering during the hardest, most intense games I’ve ever seen.

Surprisingly, no one was talking about the Trump or ICE raids.

The Dodgers went through a very long season, surviving many injuries and producing one of the most memorable seasons, the likes of which we may never see again.

They and fans want to relive Shohei Ohtani’s MVP season, Miguel Rojas’ game-tying home run in Game 7 and Yoshinobu Yamamoto’s historic performance.

No one wants a heated debate about Trump and ICE.

Let’s enjoy our lives!

Dodger players want to go; management wants to leave.

The fans want to see them there.

The 32-year championship drought wasn’t that long ago. You never know if you’ve seen the last thing in your life.

The last document is a visit to the White House.

On that day in April, if you don’t like it, log into your stupid Bluesky account and entertain all your sad friends with your stupid Trump.

All of us casual baseball fans will enjoy the event.
