Mismanagement of the Mamdani snowstorm: Literature

Issue: The death of 17 New Yorkers following Mayor Mamdani’s policy to stop the homeless.
Is Mayor Mamdani’s strategy to solve the city’s housing crisis to encourage the homeless to freeze to death on the streets (“Mamdani City Doesn’t Work,” Editor, Feb. 3)?
If what we see in the mayor is the warmth of unity, I suggest we return to the slavery of the individual.
The colder, the better.

If Mamdani belongs to the people, as he says, he must listen to the homeless.
They sent their message loud and clear: They’d rather freeze to death than go to a homeless shelter.
So it’s a no-brainer: Fix up homeless shelters.

Mamdani promised a “warm welcome to the gathering,” but for New York City’s most vulnerable, the results are clear: 17 people have died during the recent cold snap, 13 of them from hypothermia, and three more apparently related to drug overdoses.
There is no compassion in leaving a poor person to rot on the side of the road.
By ending the sweep of the camps, Mamdani surrendered public spaces to obscenities and riots.
It’s time to stop prioritizing the rights of drug addicts to live in squalor over the right of every New Yorker to live in a safe and functioning city.

Mamdani’s defiant attitude is in line with many of his Marxist heroes of the past.
Did Joseph Stalin care if his comrades froze to death in Siberia?
Did Chairman Mao care that his peasants were starving because of his man-made famine?
Did Fidel Castro care that most of his Cuban people lived in poverty during his entire 40+ year rule?
Marxists believe that the people under them are wards of the entire state, so if the population decreases, it is less costly to those in power.

Mayor Mamdani, 17 homeless people died needlessly under your watch.
Why?
Your policy regarding homeless camps, with poor conditions and lack of security in shelters, has deadly consequences.
Robert Neglia
The Bronx
If I am not mistaken, Mamdani revealed what his policy is regarding the homeless during his campaign.
Now that he did as he said, everyone raised their arms.
This should be a lesson to all; you get what you vote for.
Maybe people will think twice before they pull the strings at the polling station next time the mayoral election comes around.

Issue: Bad Bunny’s upcoming Super Bowl performance following his taunting of ICE.
Leave politics out of the Super Bowl (“Any other ‘Bunny’ would be better!” Feb. 4).
Kids don’t want to hear Bad Bunny’s opinion.
They choose to laugh at the insect rabbit.
It’s all up to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and the owners.
All they see is money.
John Migliaccio
The Grangeville
Bad Bunny’s endorsement proves that Goodell has lost his mind.
It’s not just Bad Bunny’s skewed view of America: This is a family-friendly event and Goodell has allowed an “all about me” hosting program.
Kid Rock will lead the original entertainment on the rival show.
Arthur French

I’m so glad Bad Bunny is headlining the Super Bowl at halftime.
Now I have enough time to shower, eat, check my phone and so on, without missing anything worth watching.
