Racist broadcaster ‘Chud the Builder’ charged with attempted murder extrajudicially

Racist broadcaster “Chud the Builder” has been charged with attempted murder for allegedly shooting a suspect outside a Tennessee courthouse, officials said.

The broadcaster – whose real name is Dalton Etherly, 28 – shot an unidentified man during a fight Wednesday outside a Clarksville courthouse, according to District Attorney Robert J. Nash, who said Chud also accidentally shot himself during the altercation.

Eatherly, who amassed an online following by filming himself spewing a vile racist slur in response, was in court for unpaid bills, days after he was arrested for running up a $400 restaurant bill while refusing to stop broadcasting.

He broadcast live from the scene, blaming his shooting on another man – who was black, according to witnesses – confronting him about his offensive online content.

He said the man and others were “laughing” as he walked past – and threatened to beat him up if he started talking about his racist views.

“He said, ‘You start saying all that’s left of me and ‘imma hit you,’ and he hit me, he started yelling at me,” said Etherly, who has many videos online of black people as chimps, said in the video, CNN reported.

Then, Etherly tried in a strange way to blame the “rich” who instigated strangers to harm him. “They are all saying in public that ‘if you all attack this guy, we will make you rich’. If–k,” he said.

The victim was medically evacuated by LifeFlight and is recovering in stable condition, officials said.

Eatherly also suffered what was described as a “grazing” wound to the arm and Nash said it appeared he accidentally shot himself during the disturbance. He was taken into custody at the scene.

He was also charged with aggravated assault, reckless endangerment with a dangerous weapon and using a firearm during the commission of a dangerous crime, officials said. He is being held in the Montgomery County Jail pending a bond hearing, according to the county sheriff’s office.

In his live broadcast, he insisted that he shot in defense.

Montgomery County Sheriff John Fuson said “this type of violence will not be tolerated, and our office will work to ensure that those responsible face the full extent of the law.”

The mustachioed contender was scheduled to appear in court Wednesday afternoon on a civil lawsuit, where he was sued by a debt and debt collector, according to court documents obtained by ClarksvilleNow.

Last Friday, the self-described “outspoken activist” was arrested for allegedly harassing strangers at a Nashville steakhouse.

He reportedly began swearing at the restaurant before announcing that he would not pay his $400 bill even after polishing off all the food.
