Rod Stewart Calls Trump ‘Rat Bag’ In Interview With King Charles

A famous rocker Rod Stewart seems to refer to the President Donald Trump “like a little mouse bag” during an innocent conversation with King Charles III.
Viral clip shared by Rebecca Englishi Daily MailA royal editor captured the awkward moment as the monarch, 77, greeted a group of celebrities – including Stewart, 81, and her Faces bandmate Ronnie Wood – backstage at The King’s Trust charity’s 50th anniversary event at London’s historic Royal Albert Hall on Monday, May 11.
Stewart appears to have surprised Charles by joking about the king’s recent visit to the US, telling him, “I’d say you did well in the States. You were very good. You were very good. You put that little bag of rats in her place!”
The king appeared to mock Stewart’s words and actions towards him before continuing to speak to Wood, 78.
Us Weekly has reached out to representatives of the White House, Buckingham Palace and Stewart for comment.
Monday’s ceremony was held to celebrate the alumni, ambassadors, sponsors and volunteers of the King’s Trust, which was founded in 1976 to champion young people at risk across the UK.
The event was presented by British TV presenters Ant McPartlin again Declan Donnelly and featured stars such as George again Amal Clooney, Rita Ora again Lily Collins on the guest list, among others.
Before the 2016 election, Stewart described Trump, 79, as his friend and neighbor from Florida but later criticized both his first and second administrations. In June 2025, he told the Radio Times that Trump is no longer the person he used to know.

I used to go to his house,” Stewart said at the time. “I live half a mile away… Both of us on the beach. I used to go to his Christmas parties. He’s always been a man. I loved him for that. But he didn’t, in my opinion, treat women well. But since he became President, he’s been a different guy. Someone I didn’t know.”
He continued, “I can’t [consider him a friend] and so on. As long as he sells weapons to the Israelis – and he still is. How will that war ever end? And so are we [the British] they should stop selling them.”
Meanwhile, Charles and Queen Camilla had an official visit to the US from April 27 to April 30 and attended a state dinner at the White House. The king became only the second member of the British royal family to address Congress on April 28 when he spoke about climate change and the recent shooting of White House reporters.
The king avoided any direct mention of the late convicted sex offenders Jeffrey Epstein despite her brother Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s connection to the disgraced financier. Mountbatten-Windsor was arrested on February 19 on suspicion of misconduct in public office for allegedly passing classified information to Epstein while he was the UK’s trade ambassador. He did not apply. (Epstein died by suicide at age 66 in August 2019 after being arrested on sex crime charges.)
