Kylie Jenner’s fear of the Met Gala curse prevented Timothée Chalamet from being her plus-one

Kylie Jenner fears the “Met Gala curse” will affect her relationship with Timothée Chalamet.
A source exclusively told Page Six that the reality star, 28, “deliberately avoided” attending the Met Gala with the actress, 30, out of concern that the popular superstition could get in the way of their romance.
“Kylie and Timothée have purposely avoided going to the Met Gala together for the past few years because they didn’t want to risk the whole ‘Met Gala curse’ thing,” the insider said.
“Kylie was superstitious especially after going to the Met with Travis [Scott] in 2018 and 2019 before they finally split,” the source explained.
Jenner and Scott, 35, began dating in 2017. They welcomed daughter Stormi in early 2018 and added son Aire to their brood in February 2022. The couple split amicably in January 2023.
Jenner’s sister Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson split in August 2022, just three months after they made headlines when they hit the iconic steps at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Jenner – who first sparked dating rumors with Chalamet in April 2023 – “didn’t want this kind of misfortune attached to their relationship and wasn’t willing to take any chances,” the source said.
Representatives for Jenner and Chalamet did not immediately respond to Page Six’s requests for comment.
Chalamet skipped the Met Gala 2026 last week and let his girlfriend attend the night’s biggest fashion event alone.
Instead, the actor watched the New York Knicks vs. Philadelphia 76ers at Madison Square Garden. Chalamet, a longtime Knicks fan, posted an Instagram Story showing his view from the court.
The Knicks also posted photos of Chalamet at the game, hugging fellow Knicks fan Tracy Morgan.
Meanwhile, Jenner stunned at the Met Gala in a jaw-dropping Schiaparelli dress. Her svelte look was covered in pearls in a highly embellished train – the front falls down to reveal a nude corset with fake nipples, a belly button and body contouring.
Jenner and her family members aren’t the only celebrities who have fallen victim to the so-called “Met Gala curse,” however.
Katie Holmes and Jamie Foxx – who were together since 2013 – broke up in late May 2019, a few weeks after showing their love on the Met Gala red carpet.
Similarly, Amanda Seyfried and Justin Long had been dating for two years when they made their Met Gala debut in May 2015, but called it quits four months later.
As for Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth, they went to the Met Gala together just once during their 10-year relationship – in May 2019, six months after they got married. They announced their separation in August of the same year.
