Candlelight Vigil for Savannah Guthrie’s Mother Nancy in Tucson

More than 500 people attended the candlelight vigil to pray Savannah Guthrieyou are missing mother, Nancy Guthriechurch in Tucson, Arizona, on Wednesday, February 4.
Residents gathered at St Philip’s in the Hills Episcopal Church to show their support Today The show mom, who was reported missing from her home outside of Tucson on Sunday, February 1. She was last seen on Saturday, January 31.
“What is happening is heartbreaking, and this community needed this,” Sally Shamrellactor and former local reporter who worked with Savannah, 54, at Tucson news station KVOA, told local outlet KOLD.
Shamrell said she helped plan Wednesday’s service after Savannah shared a prayer request for her mother on Instagram on Monday, February 2.
“I thought a lot of people felt powerless right now,” Shamrell told KOLD. “But we can’t … All we’re doing is waiting for the next notice, and that’s not what Savannah and the Guthries are talking about.”
“We need to come together, hug each other, and lift each other up,” he added. “Hopefully, and you just know it’s easy and really connected to wish and hope that Nancy will come home.”
In interview no CBS NewsShamrell said the Guthries are a “very respected family” in the local community.
“Nancy and Savannah have both made significant contributions to the Tucson community,” she said. “They are giving people and very honest women. What is happening is very sad.”

St. Philip’s dedicated its last service of the day to Nancy, 84, and attendees placed candles on the altar. The vigil was broadcast live on the church’s website on Wednesday night.
Teacher John Tittlewho attends Nancy’s church, St Andrews Presbyterian, spoke at the candlelight service, via KOLD. (Nancy doesn’t go to St. Philip, the outlet reported.)
“God who has so much mercy, we are praying for my sister Nancy,” said Tittle. “Bring him quickly to a safe place, and to those he loves.”
The Pima County Sheriff’s Department is investigating Nancy’s disappearance as a crime, but on Wednesday said it had not yet identified any suspects. The president Donald Trump promised to direct “all federal law enforcement” involved in the case.
As the search for Nancy enters its fourth day, Savannah and her siblings, Annie again Cameron Guthrieshared an emotional Instagram video Wednesday night, pleading for their mother’s safe return.
“On behalf of our family, we want to thank you all for your prayers for our dear mother, Nancy. We feel and continue to believe that she feels the same,” Savannah said in the video. “Our mother is a kind, loyal, faithful, incredibly loving, fair and bright woman. She is funny, smart and intelligent. She has grandchildren who love her and surround her and cover her with kisses. She loves fun and adventure. She is a devoted friend. She is full of kindness and knowledge. Talk to her and you will see.”
I Today The show cohost also addressed the so-called ransom notes that were sent to various media outlets earlier this week.
“We also heard reports about the ransom note in the media,” said Savannah. “As a family we are doing everything we can, we are ready to talk. However, we live in a world where words and images are easily changed. We need to know without a doubt that you are alive and with him. We want to hear from you and we are ready to listen.
