Ozempic and Wegovy pills are now available for same-day delivery on Amazon

Oral versions of Novo Nordisk’s weight loss drugs, Ozempic and Wegovy, are now available for same-day delivery on Amazon.

Novo Nordisk CEO Mike Doustdar said on “The Claman Countdown” on Friday that the once-a-day pill versions of the company’s most popular medications have been a huge success.

“It’s an exciting time, I would say, for patients who can get these products when they want them and very quickly,” he told FOX Business.

“I think it’s really nice that, right now, people can inject both Ozempic, and the Ozempic pill.”

The Ozempic pill was launched last week, following the January launch of Wegovy’s oral version, which delivered strong results, generating more than $350 million in first-quarter sales.

“This has been the best product launch in the last decade that we’ve seen. And I’m incredibly excited,” Doustdar said. “We have seen over a million patients in the 16 weeks since we launched [who] I tried it.”

Ozempic is prescribed for patients with type 2 diabetes, while Wegovy is used to treat obesity. Both treatments were originally given as weekly injections, but the newer oral versions are a once-a-day pill.

“I would say that the Wegovy pill will be the best, but the Ozempic pill behind the brand name will also find a good place,” said Doustdar.

Novo Nordisk was one of the first to work with the Trump administration to lower prescription drug costs and Doustdar said lowering prices is important to ensure proper access.

“We are very happy that we were able to make an agreement with the Trump administration, and especially because our job is to really ensure that these new medicines get access, and they don’t become a product only for the rich. They become a product for everyone,” said the CEO.

“I would say the lower prices have given us more patients and more capacity. Although short-term, this hurts our business. Long-term, it’s the right thing to do.”

Although Ozempic and Wegovy are known for weight loss, Dousdar highlighted the drugs’ broad benefits for heart, kidney and liver health – in particular, their ability to treat scarring in patients with fatty liver disease.

He also joked about the launch of a new drug that is proving to be so effective in liver disease that it could reduce the need for liver transplants.

“We have to finish its clinical development, we have to get it approved. But if the first data holds, I’m very optimistic,” said Doustdar.
