Chicago PD’s Tracy Spiridakos, Jesse Lee Soffer Returns After Upstead Split

Tracy Spiridakos again Jesse Lee Soffer eventually they return to Chicago PD after their successive exits led to Upton and Halstead’s shock split.

NBC announced Wednesday, February 4, that Spiridakos, 37, and Soffer, 41, are reuniting for a three-part series. One from Chicago special crossover. According to the synopsis for the Wednesday, March 4 episode, Upton “returns to his former role, but this time on a federal level as a Special Agent of the FBI.” “He joins his former PD partners after a drug gang case from his Detroit office brings him back to Chicago.”

Halstead, for his part, “served in the Army in Bolivia, going after drug cartel victims.” Lately, “he’s been on the prowl which leads him down the path to a case that Upton is investigating.”

The next episode marks Soffer’s first return to the screen since leaving in season 10. The actor is back to direct three episodes. Chicago PD when Spiridakos left the show in season 11.

“I decided at the end of my sixth season (which is the 10th season of the series),” he told Variety in May 2024. “That’s when I reached [showrunner] Gwen [Sigan] and to everyone at Wolf to let them know that I wanted to do another year.”

Spiridakos said the decision was “very difficult,” adding, “I wanted to know what I had and I wanted to change it, so it was.”

Halstead and Upton eventually got a divorce because of their respective players’ exits. Despite the sad ending on screen, Spiridakos sent a sweet message after Soffer’s exit.

“I think the word is out. Jesse, what can I say, you are the best. Thank you for your kindness, your guidance and your friendship,” Spiridakos wrote on Instagram in 2022. “You’re the greatest screen husband a girl could ask for. I’ll miss hanging out with you every day. I can’t wait to see what the next world holds.”

Spiridakos and Soffer have since sparked romance rumors but have chosen not to talk much about their relationship status. Spiridakos will be airing on USA Network’s Anna Pigeon.

Soffer, on the other hand, stayed in the world of Dick Wolf after landing a role as Wes on FBI: International.

Soffer teased how Wes was “completely new” with a “different behavior” and a “different attitude.”

“Obviously, I love the Wolf movies and they’re near and dear to my heart. Getting this opportunity was like, ‘Oh, no, this wasn’t on my radar at all, but OK, let’s do it,'” he recalled. “[There was] there is no way to predict it. There is no way to know.”

CBS finally canceled FBI: International in March after four seasons.
