“We have learned, along with the rest of the world, of the tragic news involving my brother, Joseph, and we are deeply saddened,” Jessa, 33, wrote on an Instagram Story on Thursday, April 2. “Our hearts go out to this innocent little girl and the hurt she suffered.”
He noted, “This is a huge mistake, and we know it grieves the heart of God, who cares deeply for children and the vulnerable. We lift him up in prayer, asking for comfort, healing and justice.”
Following the words of Jesus Us Weekly confirmed that Joseph, 31, was arrested by the Tontitown Police Department in Arkansas on March 18 after allegedly molesting a 9-year-old girl in 2020.
The suspect accused the previous one 19 Children and counting star for sexually assaulting her while on a family vacation in Panama City Beach, Florida.
Joseph was charged with lewd and lascivious behavior including molesting a victim under the age of 12 and lewd and lascivious behavior by a person 18 or older.
Two days later, Joseph appeared in court virtually and waived his right to a trial.
On that day, Joseph’s wife, Kendra Duggarhe was arrested and released on a $1,470 bond.
