Blake Lively’s sexual harassment claims against Baldoni have been dismissed

Blake Lively’s sexual assault claims against Justin Baldoni were dismissed by a New York judge on Thursday.

Judge Lewis J. Liman dismissed Lively’s sexual harassment, defamation, conspiracy, and Title VII claims against Baldoni. 2 retaliation claims remain as former colleagues prepare for trial.

After Liman’s decision on Thursday, Lively’s team shared a statement with Fox News Digital.

“This case has been focused on the damaging retaliation and unusual steps the defendants took to destroy Blake Lively’s reputation because she stood up for the safety of this group and that is the case that will be tried,” began Sigrid McCawley, a member of Lively’s legal team.

“For Blake Lively, the greatest measure of justice is that the people and the playbook behind this targeted digital attack have been exposed and are already being held accountable by some of the women who targeted them. She is looking forward to testifying at the trial and continuing to shine a light on this brutal form of online revenge so that it is easier to see and fight,” he continued.

“Sexual abuse does not continue not because the defendants did nothing wrong but the court decided that Blake Lively is an independent contractor, not an employee,” concluded McCawley.

Wayfarer Studios also shared a statement with Fox News Digital following the judge’s decision.

“We are very pleased that the Court has dismissed all claims of sexual harassment and all claims brought against each of the defendants: Justin Baldoni, Jamey Heath, Steve Sarowitz, Melissa Nathan, and Jennifer Abel. These were very serious allegations, and we thank the Court for its careful review of the facts, the law and the clear statement provided by Alexach Shapiro,” the statement of Bandra Shapiro. “What remains is a much reduced case, and we look forward to presenting our defenses to the remaining claims in court.”

Baldoni and Lively are yet to be tried, and the trial will begin on May 18.

Baldoni and Lively became involved in a back-and-forth legal battle after filming the Colleen Hoover adaptation, “It Ends With Us.” The “Gossip Girl” actress claimed she was sexually assaulted on set and sued Baldoni in December 2024.

Detailed allegations of sexual harassmentretaliation, intentional infliction of emotional distress, negligence and more by Baldoni and filmmaker Jamey Heath in the first complaint filed with the California Department of Human Rights and later in federal court.

On the same day that Lively filed her federal lawsuit, Baldoni filed a lawsuit against The New York Times in December 2024 over the campaign’s allegations that she tried to compete with her colleagues.

Weeks later, Baldoni named Lively and Reynolds separately $400 million defamation suit where he accused the Hollywood power couple of trying to hijack “It Ends With Us” and make their own history.

The conference call Thursday, in which the judge dismissed Lively’s sexual assault claims, also included a discussion between Lively’s legal team and Baldoni about jury selection for the upcoming trial.
