Corey Feldman Talks With Rob Reiner Oscar Tribute Exclusion

Corey Feldman talks about his notable absence from this year’s Oscars honoring the late director Rob Reiner.

“Personally, it felt like a family reunion that I wasn’t invited to, but we’re not going to use this time to get into my feelings about that,” Feldman, 54, said. Entertainment Weekly in an interview published on Friday, March 27.

“Instead, I want to say that I, and all of us, are devastated that things went down the way they did, losing Rob when we all thought he would join us at some point in this journey,” he continued, referring to the theatrical re-release of Reiner’s 1986 film. Stand by Me.

The film, starring a young Feldman Jerry O’Connell again Wil Wheatonreturns to theaters to honor its 40th anniversary.

“We would all like to be able to say goodbye in our own way,” Feldman continued. “Unfortunately that didn’t happen. The best way we can say goodbye to him and his work and his film is to honor him and his work and his film through this tour that we are doing and these interviews and to make people take time and time to respect the history of his work and the art he created. And hopefully we will go out and celebrate it one last time on the big screen where it should be seen.”

Rob and his wife, Michelle Reinerthey were found dead at their home in California in December 2025. The late director was 78 years old, he was 70 years old. The Los Angeles County medical examiner later determined that Rob and Michele’s cause of death was “multiple blunt force trauma” due to apparent stab wounds.

The couple’s son Nick Reiner32, was then arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder in connection with the unexpected death of his parents. In February, Nick pleaded not guilty. He faces life in prison without parole or the death penalty if convicted. Nick remains in custody without bail. His next court date is scheduled for April 29 at press time.

In March, Rob and his wife were honored on stage at a big Hollywood night with some of the stars of the filmmaker’s most successful movies. Billy Crystal led the way, recalling how she met Rob in 1975 when they played best friends in an episode of All in the Family.

“It went so well that Rob said, ‘It was fun playing your best friend, why don’t we continue?'” the actor said while on stage at the 2026 Oscars. “It’s been fascinating to watch him transform from a great actor to a talented storyteller.”

Crystal then highlighted some of the late director’s most memorable films, incl Sadness, When Harry Met Sally again Stand by Me. The actress was then joined by the stars of many of Reiner’s films, incl Meg Ryan, Kathy BatesO’Connell and Wheaton.

“I think Jerry and Wil did what needed to be done,” Feldman said of the moment on stage that included his former costar. “It was a fleeting moment, so I don’t feel like I missed much at all. I probably personally was a little worried that no one could speak or say anything from their heart. Although they did a great job, I would have liked to hear from Wil and Jerry and a few other people up there.”
