Paul Waring is a 41-year-old undefeated golfer on the PGA Tour. In three Tour starts so far in 2026, he has missed the cut three times. In 12 tour events last season, he missed 10 cuts.

But as we head into Friday’s second round of the Texas Children’s Houston Open, Waring is in the lead. The veteran, two-time winner on the DP World Tour, fired 7-under in Round 1 at Memorial Park to take a one-shot lead.

Major champion Gary Woodland is in solitary second place, with three players, including Sam Burns, tied at five under with 54 holes to play.

Just a little further up the leaderboard you’ll find Rickie Fowler, T11 at three under. Fowler is making his final bid to earn an invitation to the 2026 Masters this week. He needs to win or finish high enough to improve his world ranking from 61st to 50th.
