Founded in 2014 with the goal of simplifying household tasks with sophisticated engineering, Roborock has risen to become a global leader in smart home robots.
Before I tried it myself, I would have told you that it was all hype, but after testing one vacuum at a time, I became a fan and recently got my hands on the Roborock Saros 20.
Unlike traditional technology-oriented vacuum products, Roborock started as a robotics company first, focusing on advanced algorithms and mapping systems.
The brand is widely considered an industry benchmark because it regularly leads advanced technologies at CES with integrations like LiDAR for precision navigation.
Today, they have the highest global market share for robotic closures, driven by a heavy culture of research and development that prioritizes solving real-world conflict areas, such as crosshairs and high-level transitions. This blows my mind every time a robot vacuum lifts itself over tile to wood on heavily piled carpets. Good:
- A large jump from 22,000 to 36,000 Pascals, which ensures that even the deepest debris and visible dust are removed.

Roborock Saros 20 Set
Living in a 600 square meter apartment means being strategic about your layout. While some are concerned about the footprint of a standing booth, the Saros 20 proves that if you value clean floors, it’s easy to find a home for yourself. Unlike the smooth mirror of other robot vacuums from the brand, the Saros 20 features a matte finish. Although it is more bright than a light spot, it fits well next to furniture such as a dining table.
Once the base is set, place the vacuum on the charger.
After connecting the dock and manually placing the robot on the charger, download the Roborock App, create an account and tap the icon to add your device.
Once you’re connected to your 2.4 GHz network, use a Quick Mapping session to let the StarSight 2.0 robotic sensors read your building without cleaning, then use the app to set up No-Go Zones around any tricky cable bundles, stairs or weak decoration.
After that, you are ready to clean.
My Roborock Saros 20 Review
After using the Roborock Saros 10R, I didn’t think I would be too impressed, but the Roborock has outdone itself once again.
Thanks to its new AI integration, the Saros 20 is faster, boasts better suction, and reaches closer to the edges than the 10R, all while retaining the amazing features of its predecessors.
The identification system has been greatly improved; it no longer just sees an object, but distinguishes specifically between a base, a rope, a dog or a sofa. While the previous model used the StarSight Autonomous System, the Saros 20 uses version 2.0, which includes a more advanced vision system for the recognition of high obstacles in all different light conditions – it even knows that the area needs to be cleaned again even if it was filtered well enough the first time!
This space doesn’t get stuck or need rescue work when you get home; it can enter any area with its smooth profile and easily glides to high distances thanks to the AdaptiLift Chassis 3.0 (a three-arm design that allows the robot to lift its body to clear thresholds up to 1.77 and 1.57 inches Double-Layer Threshold Crossing).
Putting the jumping power into perspective, your Saros 10R delivers a maximum suction of 22,000 Pascals. The Saros 20 increases this to 36,000 Pascals – that’s a lot of pull. My home is much cleaner thanks to this new technology, and it’s done much faster, so my downstairs neighbor doesn’t have to put up with the car noise for too long.
There is a DuoDivide Main Brush that even removes microscopic dust trapped in floor cracks or deep carpet. The dual brush system is specially designed to separate and funnel hair directly into the inlet, virtually eliminating the need to cut hair on rollers. I have a dog with a lot of shedding hair, and I’ve never once needed to remove the brushes from the piles of dust bunnies, but I have had to take it out of my Miele cordless, which I love, but cause a few suction problems from time to time.
While the 10R uses 176 Fahrenheit hot water, the new RockDock 4.0 uses 212 Fahrenheit boiling water to wash the spinning pads twice. This extreme heat instantly melts heavy fats and oils. It’s cheaper than a maid and doesn’t require a tip. This is one area where I want AI to take over so I can focus on doing the work I want to do.
Is it worth it?
Overall, I can’t stress enough how much you’re going to love this robot vacuum. Yes, I think everyone needs it, but I also understand that the price can be steep, which is why I recommend the entry prices or take advantage of the sale now until March 29th.
You’ll love how easy it is to keep your home clean without having to lift a finger and use voice commands to activate the map.
How did I check?
I used it in a real-world 600-square-foot flat to see if it actually made life easier or if it was just marketing. I based my thoughts on this by comparing it to the Saros 10R and testing all the same areas with the robot vacuum over the course of two weeks.
I’ve tested it against deep stains on rugs and stubborn pet hair that often clogs other spaces. I specifically watched how it handled obstacle courses like loose power cords and dog toys to see if its AI-powered brain could tell the difference between a shoe and a couch in complete darkness. Overall, I’m very impressed.
