“Baywatch” star Alexandra Paul was arrested – again – on Sunday for trespassing on a farm to free several animals.
According to a press release, Dane County Sheriff’s deputies and other police from nearby Wisconsin “responded to Ridglan Farms in the town of Blue Mounds when 50-60 protesters entered the property without permission.”
The former actress, along with other activists, allegedly “broke into the facility and started removing a large number of dogs” from the farm, which is one of the two largest dog producers in the country that conducts scientific research on dogs.
Two vehicles, along with burglary tools and other evidence, were seized from the scene, the press release said, adding that some bees were “found and returned” to Ridglan Farms, while some dogs “have not been found.”
Paul, 62, and about 19 others were arrested, although authorities said everyone involved was “cooperative and respectful.”
“The Dane County Sheriff’s Office understands how deeply people feel about the calves at Ridglan Farms, and we respect their right to express that love through peaceful protests,” said Sheriff Kalvin Barrett.
“Our role is to keep everyone safe and to respond when illegal activity occurs. We encourage anyone concerned about animal welfare or research practices to get involved in legal and constructive ways,” he added.
“The Sheriff’s Office remains committed to maintaining public safety, promoting peaceful dialogue, and ensuring that all parties can exercise their rights within the confines of the law.”
The press release also revealed that following an animal welfare investigation, the Ridglan Farms facility will issue a Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection (DATC) breeding license on July 1.
Paul, best known for his role as Lt. Stephanie Holden on “Baywatch,” has had several run-ins with the law because of her animal activism.
In 2017, the “Christine” actress was arrested after joining a sit-in in the Oakland, Calif. area. The following year, Paul was arrested for an act of disobedience at Sunrise Chicken Farm.
In 2019, the “8 Million Ways to Die” star was arrested for peacefully protesting at the Reichardt Duck Farm in Petaluma, Calif., and spent two days in the local jail.
A year later, Paul and six other activists tried to rescue a pig from Farmer John’s slaughterhouse in Vernon, Calif., and were arrested.
Paul’s most recent run-in with the law occurred in 2023, when he went to court to rescue a chicken from a Foster Farms truck. However, the actor was acquitted after a nine-day trial.
Paul’s love for animals started at a young age, he became a vegetarian at 14 and switched to veganism later in life.
In an earlier interview, Paul revealed that he wrote into his acting contracts that he would not wear make-up that was “tested on animals.”
