Quentin Tarantino Responds To Rosanna Arquette’s N-Word Criticism

Rosanna Arquette had a small role in the 1994 classic, Pulp Fiction. And last week, he called out legendary film writer and director, Quentin Tarantino, for his history of using the n-word in his movies.
“It’s an iconic, beautiful film on so many levels,” he told the UK’s Sunday Times on March 7 while talking about it. Pulp Fiction. “But personally, I’m against the use of the n-word — I hate it [Quentin] you have been given a pass to enter the hall.”
He added: “It’s not art, it’s racist and it’s scary.”
It’s no secret that there are many curses in Quentin’s films – which he writes and directs – but the repeated use of the n-word in films like 2012. Django Unchained and 2015 The Hateful Eight is particularly controversial.
To put it into context, a 2019 report by the Dallas Observer estimated that the n-word was mentioned about 47 times in. The Hateful Eight and more than 100 times in Django Unchained.
Rosanna is not the first person to post this opinion, but not all of Quentin’s famous associates agree with this. Notably, Samuel L. Jackson – who has starred in six of Quentin’s nine movies (incl Pulp Fiction, Django Unchainedagain The Hateful Eight) — defended Quentin’s use of the slur in his writings, previously calling the backlash “some bullshit.”
“You can’t just tell a writer that they can’t speak, write words, put words in the mouths of people from their ethnicities, the way they use their words. You can’t do that, because that’s a lie; it’s not credible,” he told Esquire in 2019.
However, as the debate has gained momentum again, Quentin has responded to Rosanna’s comments in the letter, accusing her of showing a “lack of class” in herself and her work.
“I hope the publicity you get from 132 media outlets writing your name and printing your picture was worth it for me and the film I remember so well that you enjoyed being a part of it?” wrote the director.
“Do you feel this way now? You probably do,” he continued. “But after giving you a job, he took the money and threw it in the trash for what I suspect is a big deal unreasonable reasons, it shows a decided lack of class, not a little honor.”
It didn’t take long for Quentin’s answer to gain traction on the internet, and it’s safe to say that people are not impressed.
In context, Quentin’s harsh response to Rosanna comes months after his widely publicized criticism of players like Paul Dano and Matthew Lillard in December. In this case, people highlighted the irony and criticized his lack of self-awareness.
