Florida Man Suspected of Stabbing Girlfriend’s Ex-Boyfriend

A man faces charges of attempted murder and attempted murder after he allegedly confronted and stabbed his girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend near a park in Florida, according to authorities.
A violent conflict between William Tyler Warren and a 39-year-old victim occurred on Friday night, March 7, near Veterans Memorial Park in The Villages, Lady Lake community, the Lady Lake Police Department said Monday, March 9, in a statement.
Warren’s girlfriend, 37, was traveling with her boyfriend in a golf cart when Warren, 39, arrived in another golf cart and confronted the two, according to authorities, WESH reported.
“I will do it [expletive] kill you,” Warren told his ex-girlfriend, according to an arrest report obtained by the television station.
Afterward, Warren and the man got out of the golf cart and started fighting, the report said, according to the television station.
Warren stabbed a man, who required treatment for “life-threatening” stab wounds, police said.
After receiving first aid at a local hospital, the man was taken to UF Health Shands in Gainesville for emergency surgery, according to police. He eventually survived his injuries.
The woman later told authorities Warren was abusive and told her ex-boyfriend to visit her from Georgia before he came to Lady Lake, according to an arrest report obtained by WESH. It is said that she wanted her ex-boyfriend to help her get out of her house.
In a news release, police said the woman, whom they described as “a female acquaintance,” had recently moved with Warren to Lady Lake from Georgia.
Warren was arrested by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office in connection with the near-fatal fight, according to police.
After Warren was booked into the Marion County Jail, police said he “admitted to his involvement in the incident.”
It is not clear whether Warren has hired an attorney to represent him or filed his plea as of Tuesday, March 10.
“This was a violent incident that left the victim seriously injured,” said Lady Lake Police Chief Steve Hunt said the statement. “Our police and detectives rushed to investigate the case and cooperate with the law enforcement to find the suspect.”
When speaking to WESH, Hunt said the victim had “significant stab wounds” to his abdomen.
According to police, Warren’s girlfriend was also arrested on a warrant out of Georgia. Authorities did not specify what he was charged with.
It is not clear whether the woman, whose name was not disclosed in the news report, had lawyers since March 10.
