Hailey Bieber Remembers Bleeding After Giving Birth to Son Jack

More than one year after welcoming her son Jack into the world, Hailey Bieber she thinks about her terrifying experience of giving birth.
“So I pushed the child [in] 44 minutes. I was like, ‘I did it, I got him out.’ And then I couldn’t stop bleeding,” Bieber, 29, said during the Tuesday, March 3, episode of the “She MD” podcast with executives. Mary Alice Haney again Dr. Thais Aliabadiwho gave birth to Bieber’s son. “I didn’t expect that.”
Hailey, who welcomed Jack in August 2024 with her husband Justin Biebershe added that she had heard stories of women suffering from postpartum bleeding, but she “never thought” it would happen to her.
“Anything can go sideways when you have a baby. It’s a very crazy thing,” he explained. “But I was bleeding, and I trusted Dr. Aliabadi with my life … I knew he would not allow anything to happen to me.”
Hailey remembered “coming out of it” when she was bleeding, so she didn’t know what was going on. Eventually he “started to feel panic in the room,” but his medical team assured him he would be fine.
Dr. Aliabadi then explained that postpartum bleeding affects 2 to 4 percent of babies born in the genital area. The most common reason is when the uterine muscles fail to contract after giving birth, which is what happened to Hailey. The OB-GYN said Hailey had lost less than a liter of blood, which is the normal baseline for postpartum hemorrhage.
“I was on edge,” Hailey said of the blood loss.
Hailey and her doctor reiterated that the incident happened “in seconds”.
Dr. Aliabadi ended up using the Jada machine, which shrinks the uterine tissue, to treat the bleeding.

Courtesy of Justin Bieber/Instagram“They did not allow me to leave [after the bleed],” Hailey recalled, with Dr. Aliabadi noting that patients should stay in the hospital for some time after bleeding to ensure they don’t develop further complications.
Elsewhere on the podcast, Hailey opened up about learning that she has a medial uterine septum, a rare birth condition where a thin wall of tissue separates half of the uterus. A septum can increase the risk of miscarriage and premature birth. Even though Hailey wasn’t pregnant or trying to get pregnant at the time, she said it was “important [her] understanding [her] anatomy before having children,” adding that “you want to know what you’re working on.”
When Hailey suddenly became pregnant, her medical team kept a close eye on her bleeding wound. Thankfully, her uterus dilated, allowing the pregnancy to continue safely.
“The baby kept growing, my body did what it was supposed to do, luckily everything went well,” he added.
Hailey and Justin, 32 – who tied the knot in 2018 – announced the birth of their son via Instagram in August 2024.
“WE WELCOME HIM HOME,” wrote Justin, revealing that the baby’s full name is Jack Blues Bieber.
A year later, Hailey took to Instagram to celebrate Jack’s first birthday.
“Your 1 year my beautiful boy,” the Rhodes founder captioned his social media post. “Happy birthday Jack Blues, your happiness is personified🩵.”
Hailey later opened up about motherhood in an interview with her in November 2025 GQ.
“A typical day at home for me is waking up with my son, exercising as much as possible,” he said at the time. “I’m more of a homebody than I was. And I think when you have a kid, that happens, at least it did for me. It definitely made me have a lot less FOMO. I love spending time with my son. He grows up so fast and it goes by so fast, and it starts to become more real how much you want to soak up that time.”
